RED DEER SOUND CONNECTIONS CENTRE

With a dream of being a teacher from a very young age, Lisa graduated from the University of Alberta in 2001 with a Bachelor of Education Degree. Very passionate about travelling and a desire to broaden her experience by teaching abroad, Lisa moved to Shanghai, China. There she gained a wealth of teaching experience working at an International School, teaching Grades 3, 4 and 5. She then went on to become the head of Year 5 where she was able to guide and mentor a number of other Year 5 teachers as well as taking on the role of Curriculum Coordinator.   

 After 6 years in Shanghai, Lisa moved to Singapore where she taught Year 3 at a British International School for 2 years. Lisa returned home to Canada after 8 years abroad and still looking for new adventures, she became the manager and a licensed instructor at the first independent Sound Connections Literacy and Language Centre in Calgary in 2010. 

 Lisa was then given the wonderful opportunity to open her own Sound Connections Literacy and Language Centre in Red Deer Alberta in 2011. There, along with her amazing staff, she continues to work hard to bring out the very best in her students and help them to reach their full academic potential.

Sound Connections has been an extremely rewarding experience. My daughter’s literacy development has been fascinating. And while her learning and awareness around letters and sounds have been incredible, it has been most wonderful seeing all this happen in a fun and interactive way. We will definitely be returning with both our children in future programs.

I loved the program! I or my family were always welcome in the classroom and we learned different ways to help my son. I will definitely be recommending it to everyone. My son loves reading books now (or well me reading to him) and loves playing word games.
